Hot Off the Press: A Generous Church

When I was a young man working in radio, our newsroom had a satellite printer that would spit out breaking news in real time. When it started printing, everyone would rush over to see what was coming through–literally hot off the press.

Well, here’s some hot off the press news: CrossPoint Church is a generous and blessed church.

Throughout our Unleashed: Ready for the Future series, we talked about generosity–not as a transfer of wealth, but as a transformation of discipleship. We’ve been reminded that everything we have comes from God, and we are called to steward it well.

My prayer has been, and always will be, that we are not mastered by things or enslaved to money, but instead that these resources serve us as we serve our God.

And we’re seeing that become a reality.

CrossPoint, you stepped up. Already, we have seen $2,472,879 pledged toward our $5 million, 3-year goal.

This is more than a number.

It’s a statement of faith.

It’s a declaration of hope.

It’s a partnership in the work God is doing.

Just imagine what God will do through this:

  • Churches will be planted

  • Men and women will be trained and sent into ministry

  • Locations will be strengthened, improved, and positioned to thrive

All of this is happening because of God’s generosity toward us, and your generosity in response to Him.

I can’t fully express how grateful I am to be part of a church like this.

Too often, we see churches that are struggling, plateaued, or declining, and almost always, they share one thing in common: an inward focus. When a church becomes consumed with protecting what it has or serving itself, things begin to tighten.

But when a church lifts its eyes, sees that the fields are ripe for harvest, and chooses the Great Commission over the “great omission,” something powerful happens:

The presence and blessing of Jesus becomes unmistakable.

We shouldn’t be surprised.

Jesus told us to go, make disciples of all nations, baptize, teach, and He promised that He would be with us.

And that’s exactly where we want to be, right where He is at work.

Thank you for being part of that.

Thank you for your faith.

Thank you for your generosity.

More of Him, less of me.

Next Steps

1. Make Your Commitment (Pledge)

You can submit your Vision campaign commitment online at crosspointchurch.com/unleashed. A commitment simply lets us know what you’re planning to give over the course of the campaign so we can steward and plan well as a church.

2. Turn Your Commitment Into Giving

Once you’ve made a commitment, you can begin giving toward it at any time. If you submitted your pledge online, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to begin giving. If you turned in a physical commitment card at church, you’ll receive that same email once your card has been entered into the system. Many people choose to set up recurring giving to make this step simple and consistent. If you give online, we also encourage using ACH (bank transfer) rather than a credit card when possible, as it helps reduce processing fees and allows more of every gift to go directly toward ministry.

3. Explore the Vision

You can view a digital version of the Unleashed Case Study on our website. It walks through the heart, strategy, and vision behind this initiative and how these steps help position CrossPoint for greater ministry impact in the years ahead.

Location Spotlight: CrossPoint Salina

It has been a wonderful season of ministry at CrossPoint Salina!

We have been regularly gathering as a church to pray, seek the Lord, and ask Him to do amazing things in our community. But it is not just the adults, it is the next generation as well!

Recently, CrossPoint Students held a Witness & Worship night. Four students and two leaders gave their testimonies, and we responded in praise to Jesus for what He has done in their lives! Leading up to this, Pastor Miles had been challenging students to Invest & Invite in their friend groups, encouraging our students to have Jesus conversations at school. As a result, we saw 141 students come, all of whom heard an invitation to follow Jesus. There were salvations, rededications, clear next steps for our students, and a deep hunger to walk closely with Jesus.

This is the power of our testimony: that many would come to know Jesus and be changed by Him.

Would you join us in praying that:

  1. We would continue to see revival in our next generation as Jesus saves many.

  2. God would embolden all of us, from the youngest to the oldest, to invite others to hear about Jesus.

  3. Our hunger for Jesus would grow as we walk more closely with Him.

The Lord's Supper

At CrossPoint Church, one of the meaningful rhythms we share across all our locations is the regular practice of the Lord’s Supper. While the moment itself may be brief within a service, its significance is deeply rooted in the commands and promises of Scripture.

The Lord’s Supper is one of two ordinances Jesus gave to His church, the other being baptism. On the night before His crucifixion, in Matthew 26, Jesus gathered with His disciples and established this practice, instructing them to continue it in remembrance of Him. From the very beginning, the Lord’s Supper has served as a visible and tangible reminder of the gospel.

The bread and the cup are symbols that point us directly to the cross. The bread represents Christ’s body, broken for us. The cup represents His blood, shed for the forgiveness of sins. As the apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 11, whenever believers eat this bread and drink this cup, they proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes again. The Lord’s Supper continually draws the church back to the central truth of our faith: that Jesus Christ willingly gave His life so that sinners could be saved.

Because of this, the Lord’s Supper is far more than a church tradition or routine we practice. It’s an act of remembrance and proclamation. When we participate, we are remembering the sacrifice of Christ and declaring our faith and trust in Him for salvation. It is a moment for the church to slow down, reflect on the weight of the cross, and give thanks for His sufficient grace that has been extended to us through Jesus.

The Lord’s Supper is also meant to be experienced together as a community of believers, even as one church in many places! 1 Corinthians 10:17 reminds us that “because there is one bread, we who are many are one body.” When the church takes communion, it becomes a visible expression of our unity in Christ. Though we come from different backgrounds and life experiences, we share the same Savior and the same hope because of what He accomplished through His death and resurrection.

For this reason, participation in the Lord’s Supper is reserved for those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus Christ. At CrossPoint, we practice what we call open communion for believers. This means that anyone who has professed faith in Christ is welcome to participate, regardless of church partnership. However, Scripture also calls us to approach it with reverence. 1 Corinthians 11:28 says, “Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” This calls us to come with humble hearts–confessing sin, trusting fully in Christ, and recognizing the seriousness and beauty of the sacrifice we remember.

Each time we share in the Lord’s Supper, we return to the foundation of our faith. We approach with humility and gratitude. We remember the cross. We proclaim the gospel. We give thanks to Jesus, who gave His life so that we might have life in Him.
