New Season, New Podcast, Same Heart

I don’t know if you’re a podcast person or not, but I hope you’ll give this a shot!

For years, we’ve been producing something called the CPXL Podcast, and now…things are changing (and staying the same)! And when I say changing, I mean changing for the better.

CPXL stands for CrossPoint Extra Large. It was designed to be like a midweek Bible study, a way to help us keep growing spiritually between weekends. Over the years, it’s taken on various forms, but most recently, it’s been a weekly Bible study hosted by me and the wonderful Mrs. Kathy Addis. It’s been a ton of fun, and we’re not ready to stop.

But we are ready to take the next step.

So, what’s changing?

We’re going back to CPXL’s original purpose: a companion to the weekend message. Each week, CPXL will now take what was preached at CrossPoint and dive deeper–expanding on the text, exploring broader themes, and addressing practical applications we didn’t have time for on Sunday.

It’s a return to our roots–but with a fresh twist!

The format will be updated too. Lead Pastor Eric Franklin will step in as host, and I’ll join him regularly along with other Location Pastors and leaders. Expect thoughtful conversations, deeper dives, and some fun along the way.

But wait…what about Kathy?

I know, I know…if you’ve been a regular listener, you’re probably asking: Where’s Kathy going?!

Here’s the good news: she’s not going anywhere!

Kathy and I have enjoyed this Bible study format so much, we’re launching a brand-new podcast together: Two The Point.

Think of it as a relaxed, family-style Bible study where we explore Scripture, faith, and life, going wherever the conversation leads. We’ll still open God’s Word, have some laughs, and share encouragement and direction along the way.

So yes…the one podcast is becoming two, and we think you’ll find that two is better than one!

Launching Late August

Keep your eyes (and ears) open in late August for the CPXL reboot–rebranded, reimagined, and directly tied to the weekend teaching.

At the same time, we’ll launch Two The Point with Kathy and I continuing our weekly rhythm of study, fun, and encouragement.

You’ll find both podcasts in the CrossPoint app, at crosspointchurch.com/podcast, or on your favorite podcast platforms.

So whether you’re a longtime listener or brand new to podcasts, now’s a great time to jump in. Subscribe, listen, share–and let’s grow together.

Let’s supersize our faith…and get to the point!

CrossPoint Hays

This summer, CrossPoint Hays had the incredible privilege of hosting our very first Women’s Worship Weekend–and what made it especially unique is that it was entirely put on by our Men’s Ministry! Under the leadership of one of our partners, our men stepped up in a powerful way to organize, host, and support this two-day event designed to build up and encourage the women in our church, our community, and across other CrossPoint locations.

With 56 ladies registered and more than 40 kids cared for, the event was full of life and energy. Our men handled everything from food prep to childcare, logistics to hospitality–and they did it all with excellence and hard work. Kathy Addis (CrossPoint Hutchinson) shared a powerful message on evangelism, while Heather Oden (CrossPoint Sterling) led a workshop on discipleship. The ladies were blessed to have Courtney Becker (CrossPoint Topeka) lead them in several worship sessions. We also saw generosity from local businesses, who donated items for swag bags, food, and door prizes. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re already considering what it could look like to do this again in 2026!

Please pray with us as we head into the fall semester. We’re asking God to help us reach both college students and families in Hays, to grow a deep desire within our church to boldly share the gospel in everyday life, and to provide wisdom and provision as we continue to navigate and steward our facility’s needs.

We’re grateful to be a part of what God is doing through our CrossPoint network, and we’re excited for what’s ahead!

A Front-Row Seat To What God Is Doing

Have you ever wished you could be a fly on the wall? Well, allow me to flip the script—I really wish you could’ve been a fly on the wall at our recent All Staff Retreat.

These retreats are always an incredible time of fellowship, fun, and future focus (gotta love those three F’s!). But this year, something even deeper took place—a powerful cultural shift began to take root at CrossPoint, and we want you to know about it.

Each Lead Pastor taught on prayer, using Mark 12:30 as our foundation:

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

One by one, we unpacked what it means to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength—specifically through prayer. But it wasn’t just teaching. We didn’t simply talk about prayer…we actually spent hours in prayer.

Our desire? To grow our CrossPoint leaders in their own personal prayer lives so they can lead their locations in passionate, Spirit-driven, and impactful prayer. As Oswald Chambers once said:

“Prayer does not equip us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.”

We believe that. And we’re leaning into it in a big way.

Prayer is powerful—not because of the words we say, or even the faith we muster, but because of Who we’re talking to. We’re praying to the living God who loves us and moves through us.

To bring these prayer themes to life, each session connected to moments from the life of David—a man after God’s own heart. One moment in particular stood out as we looked at David facing down Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:36–37:

Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.” And David said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

David didn’t just believe in God’s strength—he remembered it. His faith wasn’t wishful thinking; it was built on history with God. He knew God had prepared him, shaped him, and would sustain him. That’s the beauty of prayer: when we remember what God has done, we are emboldened to believe what He can do.

When we pray with gratitude, we worship God for who He is and remind ourselves of all He’s already done for us. And suddenly, the impossible doesn't feel so impossible anymore.

If you’re already a prayerful believer, keep going strong! But if prayer isn’t yet a regular part of your walk with Jesus—no worries. You’re not behind. In fact, you’re right on time.

We’re preparing to lead CrossPoint into a season of intentional, purposeful prayer. It’s not just about doing more work for God—it’s about going deeper with God.

Let’s believe together for a church where intimacy with Christ is matched by the power of His work in and through us.

I’ll leave you with this encouragement from Max Lucado:

“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.”
